2019 Dog Days of Summer Festival Raises $7,500 For Local Charities
Annette Babich and Mal Meehan are pleased to announce that the Dog Days of Summer Festival held on the grounds of Inn the Doghouse guesthouse, on September 21st, raised $7,500 for their benefactors; Doggone Happy Animal Rescue, Milton Community Food Pantry and the Milton Historical Society. Each charity received a check for $2,500.
“It was an amazingly successful inaugural event for us” said co-founder Mal Meehan. Doggone Happy Animal Rescue adopted out 12 dogs; the most the rescue has adopted out during any previous adoption event. We held a food drive leading up to the festival for the Milton Community Food Pantry and collected approximately $1,000 worth of groceries; and with help from Aaron Rogers of Pro Exteriors, we also collected an additional $730 through social media for the pantry.
“We would like to thank John Collier and Kristy Rogers of the Town of Milton for their gracious guidance and support of our event. When we brought our idea to them back in March they were immediately on-board” said Annette Babich, co-founder. We would also like to thank the Mayor and Town Council for their support in closing Sand Street. And of course, we would like to thank all our amazing sponsors, hard-working volunteers and generous attendees, it was a great day out and we look forward to seeing everyone again in 2020.
